Remember when you were a kid and your mother kept telling you to sit up straight? Well, she had a reason and that was to improve your posture and keep you from experiencing back pain. Good posture for back pain is a great way to eliminate pain while keeping your body healthy. Most people believe their mothers were just nagging regarding good posture, but posture for back pain is recognized by doctors and researchers. First of all, footwear is the easiest thing to change to add support and relieve back pain. Consider the following footwear tips the next time you are shopping for shoes.

Footwear tips

Choosing the correct footwear for your foot is incredibly important to keep yourself from experiencing back pain. First, make sure you buy footwear that actually fits your foot. This means your foot must have room to move within the shoe and not be cramped or stuffed in. The bones in your foot should not be changed by putting on a shoe.

Also, footwear should support your feet. You want to buy footwear that has inner supports or arches so that your foot is kept aligned so that the rest of your body is aligned as well. Footwear like flip flops and other non-supportive shoes are not good options.

Low footwear is also important for adequate support and avoidance of back pain. High heels are the nemesis to one’s back, so save these for special occasions only. On a daily basis footwear should have no heel or one less than an inch high.

Following these footwear rules should help you find great shoes that not only look good but also support your feet and back. When you find this type of footwear you will truly enjoy wearing them because you will not have the achy feet and back at the end of the day.
